Hospitality-centric alternatives that support long-term positive outcomes

Social distancing in your dining venues

  • Given the advisories around social distancing (maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet from others) you will need to reorganize the dining space for your patients.
  • Space out the dining service by extending meal times and staggering seating.
  • Your dining room(s) should be properly cleaned and sanitized after each seating before the next group can come in.
  • Communicate these changes effectively to each patient and their families so they understand and safely follow the guidelines.

Full-service dining model

  • Transition any self-service stations (breakfast buffet, salad bar, soup, desserts, etc.) to served dishes.
  • Offer grab-and-go options such as composed salads, packaged soups, sandwiches, yogurt parfaits and grain bowls.
  • Offer in-room dining for sick patients, served in disposable dinnerware and delivered by the nursing team.
  • Continue to focus on each patient’s needs and dietary restrictions or modifications.
